Quiz #1 answers

Question 1: What is the biggest muscle in the human body?

  • Biceps
  • Gluteus max (bum muscle)
  • Trapezius (top of shoulder)

Gluteus max is the big muscle in your bum which helps you standing up from a chair or climbing up the stairs. This is the muscle which, if trained and used properly, allows you to be faster and more efficient walking or running. And of course, it is the muscle you want to tone up for a good looking backside.

Question 2: What does a physiotherapist do?

  • Force people into funny positions
  • Help people through movement and exercise, manual therapy and advice.
  • Make you taller

Sometimes called physioterrorists, we use a variety of techniques to make sure that your joints, back, neck and everything else in between work efficiently and as pain-free as possible. I often describe myself as a “body mechanic” since people tend to look more after their cars than their bodies.

Question 3: Which technique(s) can be combined with a massage?

  • Dry needling
  • Cupping
  • Scraping
  • All the above

Experienced massage therapists combine a variety of techniques to target more efficiently some problem areas while relaxing and regenerating the whole body.

Question 4: The diaphragm is?

  • The major breathing muscle
  • A tendon
  • A kind of filet steak

The diaphragm is a thin flat muscle at the base of the chest and separates the abdomen from the chest like a dome. It contracts and flattens when you inhale. This creates a vacuum effect that pulls air into the lungs. When you exhale, the diaphragm relaxes and the air is pushed out of lungs.

Question 5: What is the earliest surviving great work of literature?

  • The Iliad
  • The Epic of Gilgamesh
  • Egyptian Book of the Dead

The Epic of Gilgamesh is an epic poem from ancient Mesopotamia that is often regarded as the earliest surviving great work of literature and the second oldest religious text, after the Pyramid Texts.

Question 6: Where can you find the biggest part of the lung?

  • Front of the chest
  • Abdomen (belly)
  • Back

The lungs look like two upside-down cones in your chest. The right lung is made up of three lobes. The left lung has only two lobes to make room for your heart. They extend from just underneath your collar bones down to the bottom ribs. Follow your ribs with your fingers from the breastbone down to the side and you realise now that the rib cage is bigger in the back and the lungs can expand more in the back.
