Angela emphasize the importance of pre-habilitation and injury prevention. She will use her many years of clinical experience to get you back to your activities and sports safely and as quick as possible. She will also provide you with the knowhow and exercises to avoid relapses.
Proprietor and head of practice, Angela Petrocchi is a Swiss physiotherapist and sport physiotherapist. She is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and a registered member of the Health Professionals Council. Angela has more than twenty years experience in the treatment of patients, lecturing students and coaching athletes.
Angela is also a certified instructor for Kinesio Tex Taping Techniques and lectures regular courses in the UK and abroad.
She qualified in Switzerland in 1988 and worked as head of department at Triemli City Hospital, the second major hospital in Zurich, until 1999. After 6 months in California. Angela moved to the North East of England in 2000. She worked as head physio in a clinic in Newcastle before opening her SWISSPHYSIO in Tynemouth in 2003.
Training
Angela is trained in manual therapy, PNF, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, (MLD) and Bobath in addition to many other therapeutic techniques. She specialised in sports physiotherapy, commuting to Germany to train in this field. In addition she has certificates in numerous post graduate courses/qualifications, such as; Dry Needling and Movement Rerpatterning and IASTM.. Angela also is always keen on CPD and further training programs for continual improvement of service.
Experience
Angela combines her high level of skills and professional training with a personal background and experience in the sporting and dancing world. After more than fifteen years of competition in athletics Angela became, the team physiotherapist for a Swiss A division women’s athletic team, accompanying them to various national and international meetings. She was also responsible for the weight and conditioning training of the female sprinters.
In Switzerland, Angela has been a member of a Swiss bob sled team in the Women’s World Championships. She also attended the summer junior training camps of the German Basketball National Team as their physiotherapist.
Personal
In the North East she swopped athletic for volleyball, playing at regional championships level. Angela looks after the members of Marden Volleyball Club as well as many players of the other teams and clubs. You can find her playing beach volleyball on the beautiful Longsand or King’s Edward Bay in Tynemouth. Her clinic Swissphysio is a proud sponsor of the annual Tynemouth Beach Volleyball Tournament.
Angela also enjoys playing golf, tennis, skiing and going to the gym.
