Whiplash
Damage of the ligaments, vertebrae or spinal cord, caused by sudden jerking back of the head and neck, often in to occupant s of a car s hit from behind. Whiplash is an injury of soft tissue causing pain and stiffness in the neck. Symptoms can often last for months.
Physiotherapy can help reducing the pain and regaining the movement first with very gentle techniques and later with increasingly intense stabilising exercises. A soft surgical collar for the beginning, electrotherapy and strapping are often used to complement the treatment.
